Tiryaka Bhujangasana

A.Lie down on your stomach and place your palms under your shoulders and lie down on the ground.
B.While inhaling the air in, gradually raise the front portion of your body upwards similar to bhujangasana. Keep your hands straight and raise your head to look into the sky keeping your breath normal.
C. Now while inhaling air in, turn your head backwards on to your right shoulder and try to look at your left heel.
D. Revert to the normal posture while exhaling the air out. Repeat the procedure on the other side too.

Along with these five asanas, you can practice rolling pavan muktasana, nauli and vipareet karani also. These asanas will be described elaborately in the upcoming topics. Procedure of Shankh Prakshalana

Drink two glasses of water prepared in the said method sitting in squat posture. After drinking you should practice the said five asanas in order to circulate water inside the stomach. Consequently water flows away down from stomach. Drink 2 glasses of water again and practice the asanas keeping track of your breath. Each asana can be repeated for five to seven times. One you finish doing an asana for 5 times on each side move on to the next asana. You must continue to drink water amidst while practicing the asanas and keep repeating the process. After drinking five to six glasses of water, you feel an urge to excrete. Starting with hard stool, followed by liquid stool and further followed by plain water like liquid will be excreted out. You should not wait for the excretion for more than two minutes because it might result in loss of required pressure on stomach. If the excretion process does not begin in two minutes, you should not force. You must drink some more water and continue to practice asanas again. You must continue this process unless you excrete pure water out. This will happen after drinking almost 14 to 16 glasses of water. You can stop practicing this kriya at this stage. Your digestive system will be thoroughly cleansed by this process. It washes out all the impurities which have been accumulating throughout your life.

Drink two glasses of water again and observe vamana kriya a mode of gajakarani and expel al the water out. Therefore any more impurities in the stomach will be washed out through vamana kriya. Along with these jal nethi is also practiced in order to exterminate mental stress.

Note
1.After practicing this kriya you should not roam around. You must rest in shevasana for atleast 45 minutes but you should not sleep. Your head may ache if you sleep.
2.After resting in shevasan for 45 minutes, you can have kichdi cooked with melted butter. Along with this you can take 50 to 100 grams of ghee with this kichdi.
3.Kichdi is cooked using rice,moong dal and turmeric. Salt and spices might cause consequences. Hence it is safe to avoid them. Ghee will lubricate the intestines as they are thoroughly washed away by warm water. Ghee will restore them to normal state.
4.You should not drink cold water for that day. You must have only warm water. Also after having lunch you can drink one or two sips of hot water. It is better if you avoid drinking water.
5.You rest after lunch too. You should not do any physical work for the next two days.
6.You should follow the rules of shankh prakshalana kriya very ardently. If you can’t follow them you better not try this kriya at all.
7. You must strictly prohibit milk and items made with milk like tea or coffee, lemon, cigarette, tobacco and other such drugs for seven days after you practice this kriya. This rule should be strictly implemented atleast for minimum of 3 days.
8.You should avoid oil, chilli, spices, pepper, pickle, sauce etc in meals. You can have pulkas, khichdi, dal, boiled rice boiled vegetables.
9.People who eat non vegetarian should definitely practice this kriya. Thr rules are more stringent for them because non vegetarian food takes more time to digest and also the intensity of hunger also should be more. The capacity to digest will degrade if you continuously eat non vegetarian food. Thus shankh prakshalan kriya is a must in order to boost its efficiency.
10.The practice of shankh prakshalan is dependent on seasons. I should not be practiced when the climate too cold. It should not be practiced when it is too hot also. If you do so, a lot of sweat woul be released you might feel too weak. It should not be practiced on a rainy day either. The sky should be clear in order to practice this kriya.
11.This kriya should be practiced twice an year. For this the month of March after winter and the month of September after rainy season are consider to be apt.

Precautions

A.You should not take bath for atleast 3 hours after the practice of this kriya.
B.If you suffer with giddiness, Epilepsy, heart problem, ulcer, hernia or bleeding haemorrhoids, you should not practice this kriya.

B.This kriya will wash out all the impurities from the body and the body becomes divinely pure, radiant, stunning, vibrant and light in weight.
C.You keep your body healthy and unaffected by any disease through this kriya.
Apart from this you can practice laghu prakshalan also. It is simpler form of shankh prakshalana kriya. In this process you stop practicing the kriya after 2 or 3 times of excretion. Then you practice vaman kriya and rest for half an hour. Yopu can eat kichdi and avoid milk for that single day. Remaining rules need not be followed.
