Yoga is so much more than just a physical health routine as most people assume about it. Yoga Therapy mines the entire science of Yoga. As written in the Yoga Sutras for tangible practices, yoga can bring health and healing to the issues that confront us in modern life. The vast and ancient teachings of Yoga hold answers to all the big and the small problems we encounter daily. People undergo Yoga Therapy to feel less stressful, more emotionally balanced, to calm down their minds, rehabilitate their bodies and become reacquainted with their soul that is their own Self. Yoga can have a positive influence no matter what situation you are going through. It can also provide you with the tools to expand your physical and emotional vibrancy and wellbeing. There are three general categories of Yoga Therapy, though they all are interrelated. The first type is similar to physical therapy which uses basic movements (called asanas) which can rehabilitate the injury, moderate the chronic pain and regain vital energy. There are a number of scientific studies available today that shows evidence based research on physical benefits of Yoga. Yoga provides an opportunity to become acquainted with our inner spirit and therefore engage change at a much more profound level by offering tools to gain true knowledge of self. Relaxation techniques that promote calmness and stability through introspection combined with meditation leads us to transcendence. It can significantly reduce the overstimulation of the mind which causes psychological burnout in one form or another in many people.
